A word about book clubs.

No one has anytime for anything anymore.  We have made ourselves just plain crazy.  So, here I come along and recommend yet another thing to make time for – join a book club or start your own book club.  It’s easy to do, just grab a few friends or coworkers or neighbors and pick a book.

Too busy to read, everyone is busy.  But there is something so pleasurable in coming together once a month and having a discussion about a book, even if you spend a good deal of time talking about other things.  Some books reflect the events that occur in our lives and we learn so much from how the characters deal or don’t from any particular event.  Other books allow us to glimpse into a world different from our own.  Some stories make us mad and some excite us, and it’s great to have people to share with.  We all have our own unique observations of a story and the discussions enable us to see the story from another perspective.  I always come away from book club feeling more informed, stimulated and way less stressed, even if I was finishing the novel on the way to book club.

New book reviews will be added to the site weekly.  Some reviews are from our monthly book club meetings (and will be duly noted), and some are books I have read.  I am also including reviews of short stories.  Sometimes the book club as a whole is just too busy to read a novel so we read short stories, which is great because none of us would probably read a short story otherwise.

Reading almost always delivers – enjoy!
